Character background and lore
Morihito Otogi is one of the main protagonists of *Witch Watch*, a manga created by Kenta Shinohara. Descended from a line of ogres, he possesses exceptional physical strength as well as rigorous discipline inherited from his training.
His daily life is turned upside down when his childhood friend Nico Wakatsuki, who has become a witch, returns to live with him. A prophecy foretelling that a great danger threatens Nico drives Morihito to become both her familiar and her protector.
Morihito is characterised by his serious, calm and responsible nature, which contrasts sharply with Nico’s spontaneous and often unpredictable personality. This difference gives rise to many comical situations, particularly when the young witch’s spells produce unexpected effects.
Despite his sometimes aloof demeanour, Morihito is deeply loyal to Nico and her friends. His ogre-like strength, his sense of duty and his special bond with Nico make him one of the pillars of the Witch Watch universe.
